The weekend upcoming

Lots of news today about how the weekend at Belmont is shaping up.
Dave Grening in the Daily Racing Form reports that Ginger Punch, winner of the Darley Test at Saratoga and the Ruffian, is a go for the Beldame, though no decisions have been made about the Breeders’ Cup. He also notes that Take D’Tour and the slightly injured Teammate, both last seen in the Ruffian, will not run this weekend at Belmont, and that Wait a While will run in Saturday’s Grade I Flower Bowl.

The Blood-Horse‘s Karen M. Johnson writes that the plans of Jazzy, winner of last weekend’s Gallant Bloom, are up in the air and may hinge on what La Traviata does in the Breeders’ Cup. La Traviata romped on Travers Day in the Victory Ride, and her connections “have hinted that they may want to take on males, but haven’t made a final decision.”

You’ll also find in The Blood-Horse a nice column on a visit to John Henry.

Don’t forget: registration for Belmont Fall SHOWdown ends tomorrow before the first race, and Wednesday’s third race is the Beautiful Please, with a field of six nice fillies. Approximate post: 2:00.
