The work continues: a storm relief update from the New York Racetrack Chaplaincy

The New York Racetrack Chaplaincy has continued its relief work this week, bringing supplies and food to those affected by the storms. Chaplain Humberto Chavez offers this latest update, printed below.

I’ll be shopping for and bringing supplies to them tomorrow. If you’re interested in contributing, please let me know via e-mail or in the comments; I’d be happy to purchase on your behalf. If there’s something particular you’d like me to buy, let me know, and I’ll do so to the best of my ability and what the store has in stock.

From Chaplain Humberto:

Dear friends,

I would like to thank all of you who are offering your support in the aftermath of the worst natural disaster to hit the New York/New Jersey area in our history. Tens of thousands of people have lost their homes, personal possessions, and their livelihood.  Millions are without power, and many have lost their lives. And, as I write this email, we just received an additional storm with 6″ to 12″ of snow and gusty winds that have left many without power again. Your prayers and support are so needed, and appreciated.

It’s great to see the thoroughbred industry pulling its
weight in these tough times. There are also many great
owners who are equally great human beings and I know they
will come through for all of the people of New York.
