The Eagle has landed: Ian Eagle talks Brooklyn and basketball


Days before the Nets were supposed to make their Brooklyn debut at the Barclays Center, on November 1, their long-time announcer was home in New Jersey, preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Sandy and thinking about a flight to Texas, where he was scheduled to call the Buffalo-Houston game on November 4.

Ian Eagle started calling Nets’ games in 1994, first on the radio and year later on television; in 2002, he joined the YES Network, but despite his 18-year career with the team, he wouldn’t be there for the Nets’ most eagerly anticipated home opener in…forever?
