Very interesting observations using tennis courts - I'm currently trying to figure out how to best make that analogy using stringed instruments. I think you had the easier task!

Mr. Dargorian: the dirt at Saratoga this summer was safer than the synthetic track at Del Mar; the dirt track at Belmont has been safer than the synthetic track at Santa Anita.

I stood at the rail at Keeneland two weeks ago and watched a horse with a grotesquely broken leg load into a van; he was later euthanized.

I had 2 seconds and no winners. I did enjoy the racing even though I was working.
This is a time of transition. I agree there were no breakdowns. However, the jury is still out. BB, we'll have to wait and see what happens. Last year, on "traditional dirt" was sort of ugly. The numbers are a little up over last year despite what I heard going in. Hooray!

Let's hope that they review their ticket price policy before next year. Friends of mine went to their 21st consecutive Breeders' Cup and didn't have seats for the first ever time. We've moved from $2.50 seats in 1984 at Hollywood through to $50 seats at Santa Anita in 2003 and arrived at $400 for both days (in the same section)

Although I am very happy all horses returned without incident, I hate to think this is the only criteria we have for deciding the success of one of the premier horse racing events. To me, this years’ Breeders’ Cup was not necessarily a true test of champions…The Breeders’ Cup Classic became the coup d’état in the argument that synthetic surfaces are more like turf than dirt when the top 3

Why can't you just be happy that we had a flawless 2 days? No fatalities, should make any animal lover happy. People have tried to make dirt tracks safe for 100s of years and they haven't been able to do it.
