Val: the Aussies clearly have it right. As a person whose job it is at least in part to make disciplinary decisions, I am required to have written explanations for the decisions I make. Makes my life a lot easier when interested parties have access to my decision-making.

I totally agree with you about Mrs. Holden’s DQ (and not just because I had money on her too :) Watching the race, it looked to me like Johnny V tried to go through a hole that wasn’t there and checked. I couldn’t believe the inquiry sign came up.

About the stewards, interestingly I was watching Australian racing the other night and they had a steward in a room with race replay
